• Morgan Stanley - Director's Choir and Charity Bake Auction
    14 Dec

Morgan Stanley is delighted to present its 15th annual performance of the “Morgan Stanley Directors’ Choir” in support of Operation Santa Claus 2017, a cause the Firm has supported for the last 20 years as part of its community outreach and philanthropy programs. This year Morgan Stanley’s OSC fundraising focus is on Po Leung Kuk, the firm's 2016-2017 Hong Kong core charity partner. Via an internal website, Morgan Stanley employees sponsored members of senior management in Hong Kong to sing Christmas carols in public to raise funds.

In addition to the Directors’ Choir, this year the Firm is also raising funds via its Charity Bake Auction (December 4 – 8). Employees in Hong Kong were invited to bake their favorite cakes and desserts to attract online bids from colleagues. Bids for each baked item were treated as donations and all proceeds benefitted Po Leung Kuk.

Each year, all of the Hong Kong based Hash House Harrier clubs, now numbering 14, organise a joint Hash to raise money for Operation Santa Claus organised by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).

This year, the event is held on Sunday 10th December at 2pm, and involves a 1 hour plus cross-country run, or Hash, for all ages and standards of fitness where the runners, or Hashers, follow a pre-laid trail. Following the run there will be a ‘Circle’ where the Grand Master of the event will hand out various punishments or, DownDowns, for Hashers who have committed misdemeanours on the Hash such as short cutting or wearing outrageous running kit. During the Circle a raffle is held for prizes donated by various sponsoring establishments / organisations. Once the Circle finishes an OnOn or Bash is held, typically with buffet style food to replenish those lost calories.

Typically, well over 100 hashers take part and from humble beginnings recent years have seen us raise around HK$60,000 each year for Operation Santa Claus by contributions from the different Hash clubs, the raffle and sponsoring establishments / organisations.
